Dhaka and Gazipur have no shortage of skilled technicians – what is missing is a way to know whom to trust. This guide covers what the verification badge means, how to read reviews, how to talk about price, the red flags that should make you walk away, and what to do after the job so the next customer benefits too.
1. What the Verified badge means – and what it does not
In the AmarKarigor app, "Verified" means the technician submitted their National ID (NID) and a selfie, and our team checked that they match. It is an identity guarantee – if something goes wrong, it is known who the person is. For jobs that mean entering your home (locks, electrical, plumbing) that is a big reassurance.
But Verified is not a guarantee of work quality or price. The best signal for how the job will go is ratings, reviews and the number of completed jobs. The app itself gives no guarantee – the choice is yours, but we put the information in front of you.
2. Read the reviews, not just the rating
The gap between 4.8 and 4.6 is tiny; the gap between a 5.0 from 3 reviews and a 4.5 from 40 reviews is huge. Ratings in the app come in four parts – quality of work, price, punctuality, behaviour. Look at the one that matters for your job (punctuality for urgent work, quality for a big one).
Look for specifics in the text: "leak-tested before refilling gas", "did not charge more than quoted", "did not need a second visit". A review that just says "good" says little. One bad review is normal; the same complaint repeated (late, extra charges) is a red flag.
3. Match the skill tags
A superb fridge technician does not necessarily understand an inverter AC’s PCB. Check that your job ("Inverter AC", "Water pump", "IPS/UPS") appears in the profile’s skill tags, then give the brand and model in chat and ask directly: "Have you done this before?" An honest technician has no trouble saying "no, that is not my line" – which is itself a good sign.
4. Experience, completed jobs and activity
Years of experience on the profile are entered by the technician; the completed-jobs count is computed by the app from real jobs – the second is the more reliable. "Taking jobs now" and "Last active" tell you how quickly to expect a reply. Look at work photos if there are any – technicians who post their own work are usually proud of it.
5. How to talk about price
Ask for three numbers separately: the visit fee (for a diagnosis only), labour (for doing the job), and parts (if needed, and who buys them). The profile’s "typical price" range – computed from that technician’s previously completed jobs – is for comparison; it is guidance, not a quote.
Get the final price in writing in chat before the work starts so both sides hold the same record. If a new problem appears mid-job (it often does) the technician should tell you first and proceed only if you agree – say so at the outset. Payment goes directly to the technician – cash, bKash, Nagad, whatever suits you both; the app takes no payment.
6. Red flags – walk away
- Declaring "the compressor is gone" or "the PCB must be replaced" without looking – naming the most expensive part first
- Dodging when you ask about the test ("I know, you do not need to understand")
- Refusing to show the old part or give a receipt
- Pressure to move the conversation off the app, or asking for full payment upfront
- Irritation or haste when you discuss the price
- The same complaint repeated across reviews
7. During and after the job
Be at home during the work, watch what is being replaced, keep the old parts. Test when it is done – run an AC for 20 minutes, open every tap after plumbing work. Get the warranty period (if any) in writing in chat.
Then rate – honestly, across the four parts, with specifics in the text. Record the price in the app. Those two actions are how the next customer finds a good technician and how good technicians rise – that is the whole AmarKarigor system.
8. If something goes wrong
Tell the technician in chat first – most honest technicians come back and put it right. If not, say so in your review, and for anything serious report it from the app; our team reviews the profile and acts. Remember the app is not a middleman, but we take reports of fraud or misconduct seriously.
- Verified = identity checked; judge work quality by reviews and completed jobs.
- Review count and specific wording matter more than the decimal in the rating.
- Match the skill tags and ask in chat directly: "Have you done this before?"
- Visit fee, labour, parts – get the three separately and in writing in chat.
- Walk away when expensive parts are named without inspection or tests are dodged.
- After the job, leave an honest review and record the price – for the next customer.
