Common problems
TV turns on, sound works, but there is no picture
The most common LED TV fault: a failed backlight strip or its driver. Shine a torch at the screen – if you can faintly see the picture, it is almost certainly the backlight. This costs far less than a panel replacement.
TV will not turn on, or the standby light blinks
Bulging capacitors on the power board, a blown fuse or an IC damaged by voltage swings. After a spell of load-shedding in Dhaka this is one of the most frequent complaints.
Lines, patches or half a picture on the screen
Vertical or horizontal lines usually point to the T-con board or the flex cables to the panel. A crack or dark blotch means the panel itself is broken – then have an honest conversation with the technician about whether repair makes sense.
No sound or distorted sound
Speakers, the audio amplifier IC, or simply a muted setting – check settings and the HDMI source first, then call a technician. In soundbars and home theatres the amplifier and power sections fail most.
Smart TV hangs, Wi-Fi or remote not working
A software reset or update often fixes it; otherwise the mainboard memory or Wi-Fi module. A dead infrared sensor means the remote gets no response – a small job.
CCTV not recording, microwave not heating
For CCTV it is usually the hard disk, the power adapter or a cable connector. A microwave that spins but does not heat points to the magnetron, high-voltage diode or door switch – never open a microwave yourself.
What the technician checks
An experienced TV technician usually works through these, in order:
- Power board output voltages, fuse and bulging capacitors
- Backlight strips – torch test, then each LED with a tester
- Mainboard and T-con board voltages, flex cables and connectors
- Panel for cracks, pressure marks or dead pixels – repairable or not
- Speakers, audio IC and the source (HDMI, dish receiver) settings
- On smart TVs: firmware version, reset, Wi-Fi module
- For CCTV: DVR/NVR hard disk, adapter, camera cables and recording settings
- For microwaves: door switches, fuse, high-voltage capacitor (discharged first) and magnetron

In chat, give the brand, model, screen size and what is happening (no picture / no sound / will not turn on); a photo or short video of the screen tells the technician a lot before the visit.
Fix – at home or in the workshop
Backlight and power-board jobs are often done at home; board-level work or a large TV may need the workshop. Before it leaves, keep a receipt or a written note in chat.
Review – rate the job
Rate the work and record the price in the app. The next customer gets an honest signal and good technicians rise to the top.
Safety tips before you try anything yourself
- Unplug the TV and wait a few minutes before opening it – power-board capacitors hold a charge.
- Never open a microwave oven yourself – the high-voltage capacitor can deliver a lethal shock even after unplugging.
- Do not take a large TV down alone; the panel cracks with the slightest twist – two people, screen facing out, kept straight.
- In load-shedding areas run the TV and dish receiver through a good surge protector or stabiliser.
- For dish or CCTV work on a roof or ledge, ask whether the technician has safety equipment.
- Before a smart-TV reset, have the passwords of the signed-in accounts to hand.
What affects the price
Visit fee versus workshop drop-off
A home visit carries a visit fee; at the workshop many charge only a check-up fee. Both are on the profile or confirmed in chat beforehand.
Which board or part
Backlight strips, power board, T-con, mainboard – each costs differently and varies by brand and screen size. Component-level repair (an IC or capacitor) is usually cheaper than swapping the whole board.
Whether a panel replacement is worth it
A panel often costs close to a new TV. An honest technician says so upfront – ask directly in chat.
Original versus compatible parts, warranty
Compatible backlights or boards are cheaper but may not last as long. Get what is being fitted and how long the warranty runs in writing in the chat.
