In the AmarKarigor app you can see the profiles of computer technicians in Dhaka and Gazipur – who has passed NID verification, how customers rate them, whether they come to your home or work from a workshop, and what their previous jobs typically cost. Laptops, desktops, printers and routers/Wi-Fi all belong to this category. Describe the problem in chat or on a call, agree the price; you pay the technician directly.

Common problems
Laptop will not turn on or does not charge
Adapter, charging port (DC jack), battery, or the power section of the motherboard – one of those four. Trying a different adapter first narrows it down a lot.
Very slow, hangs, keeps restarting
Bad sectors on an old hard disk, too little RAM, malware, or thermal throttling from dust – very often an SSD plus a cleaning makes the laptop feel new.
Runs hot, fan is loud
Dhaka dust clogs the fan and heatsink within two or three years, and the thermal paste dries out. A service (cleaning plus fresh paste) is the most common and most useful job.
Display black, lines, cracked or flickering
A broken hinge tears the display cable; a drop cracks the panel; a dead backlight or inverter leaves it dark. If an external monitor shows a picture, the graphics are fine – the fault is in the display.
Keyboard, touchpad or ports not working
Spilled liquid is the keyboard’s worst enemy. A few dead keys often mean replacing the whole keyboard; USB and HDMI ports are soldered to the motherboard – delicate work.
Windows, software, data and network
Windows not booting, viruses, data recovery, a printer that will not connect, router setup or slow Wi-Fi – beyond hardware, technicians in this category handle these jobs too.
What the technician checks
An experienced laptop technician usually works through these, in order:
- Adapter output voltage, charging port and battery health (cycle count)
- Hard disk / SSD SMART report and bad sectors – whether data is at risk
- RAM test, CPU temperature and fan speed – overheating or throttling
- Display cable, hinges and panel; graphics verified via an external monitor
- Keyboard, touchpad and ports – any liquid or corrosion marks
- Motherboard power section (shorts, bulging capacitors, burnt ICs)
- Windows/drivers, malware, startup programs and storage usage
- Printers: head, rollers and cartridges; routers: firmware, channel and cabling
How it works on AmarKarigor
Find – technicians near you
Pick "Computer & laptop" in the app. Check the skill tags – laptop, desktop, printer or router/Wi-Fi – for the one you need.
Talk – model and symptom
In chat, give the brand and model, its age and what is happening; send a photo of the screen or the error message. If the data matters, say so at the start so a backup comes first.
Fix – at home or in the workshop
Servicing, RAM/SSD upgrades and Windows installs are often done at home; motherboard or display work may go to the workshop. Before it leaves, note the serial number and condition in chat.
Review – rate the job
Rate the work and record the price in the app. The next customer gets an honest signal and good technicians rise to the top.
Safety tips before you try anything yourself
- Back up important files and sign out of banking and wallet apps before handing over a laptop.
- If the technician needs your Windows or account password, change it once the job is done.
- After a spill: switch off immediately, unplug the charger, do not try to turn it on – the sooner it is opened, the better the odds.
- A swollen battery (a trackpad that has lifted) means stop using it – fire risk.
- If you open a laptop yourself, disconnect the battery first; screws and flex cables are delicate.
- Change the router’s default password – ask the technician to do it during setup.
What affects the price
Check-up fee and visit fee
A check-up fee for diagnosis at the workshop, a visit fee for a home call – both are on the profile. Many fold it into the final price if you go ahead.
Servicing and upgrades versus repair
Cleaning, thermal paste and a Windows install are fixed-labour jobs. An SSD, RAM or battery adds the part’s price – you can also buy the part yourself.
Parts: from battery to motherboard
Keyboard, battery, adapter – mid-range; display panels and motherboard work are the expensive end. Original versus compatible parts differ a lot in price; ask what is being fitted.
Data recovery
Cost depends on how damaged the disk is – from a simple copy to recovery with specialist tools. Ask in chat what is charged if recovery fails.
We do not quote fixed prices. In the app, each technician profile shows a "typical price" range computed from the jobs that technician has actually completed (once there are at least 5). Agree the final price with the technician in chat or on a call before the work starts.
